Single moms by choice?

Question

In my early 30s and concerned I won't find a partner with whom to raised children. Have any women here taken the plunge to single motherhood?

I started planning to become a SMBC about 5 years before I followed through because being a mom was more important to me than forcing a relationship. At 33 I got pregnant on my first IUI attempt (using an open donor) with my beautiful little boy. My family has been supportive from day one and my little boy has many positive male role models in his life. It took me a year of TTC to get pregnant with #2, but I'm now 20 weeks with a little girl! 
It was scary at first, but it has been "easier" than I expected. People are naturally curious and I've gotten used to explaining our story, but I don't mind the questions.
As an aside, since I had my son, many of my friends have divorced and had very contentious, ugly child custody situations...I hate to be cynical, but part of me is relieved that I will never have to go through something like that...

I'm a SMBC of a very cute 13 month old.  my married friends are always complaining about their husbands and parenting styles.  I'm glad I don't have to go through any of that. D

aycare I think is the toughest part because it is pricey but everybody figures things out once your mom. Necessity is the mother of invention. I wouldn't trade her for the world!

I'm also preparing to start the process to be a SMBC. I had my first consult for an IUI on Monday and plan to begin trying this month once my cycle comes ' in super excited and have narrowed it down to a top four on my donor list :)! Let me know how it goes!

Yes I have. And I wouldn’t change it for the world. After I had my son, I was willing to give his sperm donor a chance when my son was a year old. But then came the harassing calls at three in the morning by his drunk of a mother, his family showing up to my job trying to fight me, and most horribly, a threat to be taken to Maury for a DNA test 😡. He kept saying my son was his one minute and then the next, he wasn’t because my son is light skinned. He was bringing all sorts of random people to my house to seeing my son looked like him. Showing everybody my sons picture. I just wasn’t having it after I tried to give him a chance to be a dad. He tried to force me to pay for a DNA test when I wasn’t pressuring it. I told him that I changed my phone number because of him and the idiot still tried to get my number again. It got to the point to where I told him to get the test done or leave me and my son alone. I moved out of my house due to the threats and harassment. It’s been 8 years and let me tell you, I couldn’t care less if the man died. I’m just not sorry that I feel that way.

I think it's awesome. I always told myself if l reached a certain age and didn't have a partner or kids that l would just do it on my own.

Yes. I'm 25 I have a 15 month old and I'm almost 27 weeks pregnant. He has a drinking problem and he is bipolar and it was not safe for my son or me and the baby it's not easy but I have the best support system with my family. And my boys are worth it. I wouldn't change one thing in my life, because everything has brought me to where I am and I love them so much!

I've vowed to myself that if I don't find a partner I'm the next 5 years I will start the proses. I have down payment on sperm and I want a kid now even though I'm not able to afford one at the moment

i would probably start as a foster mom first. See how that goes. Being a parent is hard AF with a partner. The logistics alone doing it single scare me.

I am a SMBC. i have 2 gorgeous daughter's that are 6 and 3. My 6 year old her father isn't really a part of her life, and my 3 year old her father and I went through a really nasty divorce and I've stayed single but he's been in several different relationships. After my divorce I was really hurt and decided to stay a single mother. My daughter's are very happy with this choice. I have chosen to have one more child but to raise the baby on my own. I'm very happy with this choice I decided to make. I hope every other SMBC very good luck on their journey as well.
