adopting a big kid

My LO is 7 months old. I have no interest in birthing another child or being pregnant again (absolutely hated it) but I do want more kids down the line. I think adoption would be a good fit for us. I'm just wondering if anyone here has adopted a big kid(s) ? Or if anyone has adopted at a young age? I'm 22 now but planning on looking into adopting within the next couple years.
