PCOS and Ovulating

It has just dawned on me that my doctor told me that there is a chance I would ovulate and get pregnant. Well, I found this morning that women can have periods without ovulation, something I was not really aware of. I just started a cycle after almost three months without. I have been trying to eat right, exercise and make healthy decisions. However, I find myself growing more frustrated and feeling saddened by this whole PCOS ordeal.

Have any of your ovulated without medications or do you usually have a period even though you haven't ovulated?

I wish there was a handbook for this kind of stuff.
