My boyfriend told me he no longer wants to marry me? why?

My boyfriend and I have been in a relationship for a year and he always tell his friends and his family members that him and I and our pets are a little family. He always talks about a future marriage and life with me in a good light to his friends and his family but not to me and even talks about when he plans to get married to me. He never discusses marriage with me because he said doesn't want me to get my hopes up and hope for a proposal in a month. Yet he recently told me last month"Don't be surprised if you get a proposal from this year I don't like ruining surprises."And then just yesterday he made me cry my eyes out telling me he no longer wants to get married to me in a year or even 5 years to ten years. I asked him if he does see himself marrying me at all and he said he doesn't seem him marrying anyone. I got so sad broke down and cried and I said it's obvious you don't love me and he got mad at me for questioning his love. It doesn't make any sense to me how he could love me and say he doesn't plan on ever marrying me. I don't even know what to do anymore.
