I was in the store with my nephew the other day and he was reading the aisles and he continued to say "section". After he said it a couple times, he told me he shouldn't say that word because it has a curse word in it. I said, "What word? Sex?" And he said "yes". I asked him how he knew about sex and he said that he "saw it on tv and it's when two grown ups (he put his pointer fingers together)." Then he completely shut down and didn't want to talk about it.

I feel extremely uncomfortable that my (just turned) 5 year old nephew knows about sex. I feel as though, even if he saw it on tv, how would he be able to fully understand what he saw?

My sister is bringing him over now and I'm going to ask him more in depth about what he knows. I want to know what questions I should ask him and what to say to my sister when she picks him up tomorrow.

Do your young ones know about sex? Am I overreacting? I'm not letting it slide. I want to know in full detail of how he was exposed to this.
