Does a tongue piercing hurt?

I want one sooooo bad but I'm scared it'll hurt lol.. Please post pictures of yours and let me know how it went!!!!

Getting it done didn't hurt. The healing process was what hurt for me.

getting it done barely hurt at all, i was so surprised. but i was really sore for about a week after, and it took me a few days to figure out how to eat with it. i love it though! it healed perfectly, i have had no complications, and its so cute! getting it done is definitely worth it :)

My nose hurt worse than getting my tongue pierced. Healing wasn't as bad as I thought I was going to be. They put a longer bar in at first to help with swelling but my tongue never swelled so when I was sleeping it felt like I was almost choking on my tongue if I fell asleep in a chair. Make sure your balls are on tight. I've either had them fall out of my mouth or I swallowed a couple. 😆. I love my tongue ring and so does my husband.  I've had it for over a year now.

I am uncomfortable posting a pic of my tongue ring. I have never been the type to show it off. However, I am absolutely in total love with my piercing. I have had it since '09 & can't seem to part with it, lol. Like you, I was completely terrified of the thought of getting it pierced. I have a very low tolerance for pain. So, when I tell you it didn't hurt, it didn't. I was given Listerine to numb my tongue and kept it in my mouth for a good minute or two, closed my eyes, prayed for survival (lmao) & it was over before I counted to 5. I will say that the healing process does hurt or is very uncomfortable. The best soothing technique for me was anything cold (i.e. ice cream, slushies). I couldn't eat real food for about 3 days. But, that's just my experience. My friend at the time was good after maybe a day. I also suggest "tongue exercises," move your tongue around your mouth multiple times a day. Go up and down, side to side and move the actual bar up and down. Follow the after care plans, basically keep your mouth clean! I use to carry a bottle of Listerine and would randomly clean my.mouth, especially after meals. Good luck!

I had my tongue all hanging out and he pierced it and I still had it hanging out and asked him if he was done lol... he said yes you can put your tongue away haha. But it started swelling soon and that's what sucked. Pineapple justice has natural anti inflammatory in it so I bought a mini ice cube tray and made pineapple juice ice cubes and within 2 days I was good!!

Im 27 I've had mine done since i was 13. Because i was rebellious and did it myself and that was 14 years ago....i did most every piercing i wanted back then.. For me to do it myself it didn't hurt at all. Didn't bleed. Didn't take long to heal and really didn't swell or hurt.  I don't suggest doing it yourself, let a professional. But all in all its not bad at all. My nose hurt way worse than any piercing ive had and ive had quite a few.

eat before you do it, like a good protein meal. I didn't and I passed out, also make sure your balls are tight when they are done, mine fell out because the top ball was lose. getting mine done again this fall it is painful but I think it's worth it
