Best baby-proofing items?

A refrigerator lock. Most of them are terrible or inevitably someone rips it off so buy a few the first time. We learned early that the child locks that go on your kitchen cabinets are awful and a hair tie on the knobs will keep them out much longer term. We put chemicals and things up high with a hair tie and only safe stuff down low. It's not a problem if she gets in the Tupperware drawer(and that's their favorite) We have a knife drawer that has a lock on it but it doesn't do much... she's almost 2 and has been able to open it for a while. We just constantly remind her and she isn't allowed in the kitchen without an adult. 
We have a chain lock on our front and basement doors. Newer windows have triangle locks so they only open 3" but a push pin works, too- and can be easily removed in case of a fire. It should go without saying but co and smoke detectors. We can lock our bathroom from the outside so we do but baby gates can do the trick too. 
As firefighters, we say baby proof what needs to be done but don't make it impossible to get to your child in case of a fire.

I LOVE those self closing outlet covers, I never had the patience for the putting/removing of the individual plugs every time I wanted to use an outlet.
