Did your LDR workout in the long run

Question

I am 20 years old in a LDR. My SO lives in a different country. We meet while he was in the United States attending school . We were friends for a year. 
My parents are no supportive of him. While I thought it would be because he is from a different county, or religion.  They don't support us because they do not believe in LDR. I would like to use this poll to prove to them and other son here that it is possible.

My husband and I met while gaming over 12 years ago. He flew to NY to meet me after 4 years, I flew to NZ to meet his family and spend a month with him in the 6th year, moved to New Zealand after getting engaged during the 8th year, married in the 9th year and are still happy together today. I'm now 31 and he's 36.

Not a huge distance but 50 miles or so. We met when I was 14 he was 15, bussed to see each other every Saturday 💙 we're together 16 years, married for 7 with a 6yr old, 3yr old, 1 yr old and no4 due next week. He's my favourite person in the world 💙💙

Yep!!! We met online in 2014, met in real life in 2015, moved in together in 2016, and got married this year!! Long distance relationships are fucking hard, but it was 100% worth it.

I was really scared mine wouldn't work out. 5,000 miles between us, I was starting college and he was about to graduate. We decided we had to break up since we couldn't be together. A few months later we decided we weren't going to let the distance decide our relationship. It was tough and expensive but worth it. We've been living together in the same country for two years and married almost one.

Me and my finacé lived in different countries (I met him on holiday). We did long distance for a year, I moved after a year and after 19 months in total he proposed and we're expecting our first child in a few weeks. Long distance can definitely work but communication is so very important, as well as understanding that whilst not being able to see each other for long periods of time will be frustrating and upsetting, not to take it out on the other. Just keep  planning when you can and look forward to the next time 😊

It's definitely possible I'm in a LDR and I love my boyfriend to death. Just because you can't touch, talk, or be with them every single day doesn't mean you aren't in a relationship. You fell in love with their personality and are still working that's true love.

My fiancé and I met when I was 19 and he was 20 at university. At the end of the year I got into vet school and moved across the country. Initially we broke up because he wasn't ready for a huge commitment like that. But we got back together 6 months later. We did the LDR thing for about 4 and a half years. Recently he moved to be with me now that we've both graduated university and I'm settled for the next 4yrs to complete my residency. He proposed and now we're getting married next year. It was hard, but we love each other so we made it work.

my and my S/O had to do LDR for the first year after, after moved in together but now he will be moving back here soon. I more than likely will be moving there with him. it's really tough but worth it in the end if you give it your all.

Me and my boyfriend live in different states , he lives in North Carolina and I live in Boston. My mom doesn't like the idea of us dating because he has white skin and I don't have white skin. His mom approves of us dating, but just like his mom and everyone else wants to know is how are we gonna see each other. We thought about that in many ways, I could drive to see him, take a bus, take plane, ride a bike, or walk to him. Even though it might take me awhile I'm doing it because I love him and I wanna see him. We live different lives for example I'm a college student and he is not, I would find a way to North Carolina to make it to his high school graduation.
