Paternity test

Ok I hope this isn't too dumb of a question. I'm about 2 weeks from my due date and my son's dads family is insisting on a paternity test. I have zero problem with this as i know he is 100% the dad. He knows too considering we lived together and I was so crazy about him. He just is using every excuse to not be involved like most deadbeats do. He's convinced his family that I was sleeping around when really, he was the one cheating in the end up. Anyway, my question is, who pays for the test? I'm pretty sure Iowa requires a paternity test if you aren't married so does the state pay for it?
