In a relationship with a man that has a daughter?

I've never been with somebody that has a child. All I really know is that his daughter doesn't live with him and I see him text his baby mother sometimes when I'm with him. I don't know how often he sees his daughter and I don't have any problems with the baby mother or anything, I don't mind that they talk but do you think that my boyfriend has sex with his baby mother sometimes? When I asked 2 of my guy friends about it they said that "duh it's simple knowledge" and "she's a free cheating pass" what do you think? I've only been dating him for a few months and I already feel so attached...me and my boyfriend are currently not talking to each other because of the argument we had about this. Any advice? I'm 19 and he is 27 btw.

I would say the biggest thing to find out is how often he sees his child. I was with a guy once and found out that he rarely saw his son and was doing absolutely nothing to fight for him. I got the heck out of there because I want nothing to do with someone like that.

From the info you gave, I would trust him. But if you don't, then I don't think you can continue a healthy relationship. You shouldn't let yourself be in a relationship that you feel insecure in. The best relationships don't make you wonder and torture yourself. I'm not denying he "could" sleep with her, but to me it seems very unlikely and a waste of energy fighting over it.

Just because they are connected by children does not mean they will forever want to have sex with each other, or go back to what they knew. My husband had 2 babies, and he would much rather castrate himself than deal with his ex wife, no need to even mention actually having sex with her. Maybe the fight was about the lack of trust and accusations, as opposed to his behavior? I think it is important that two people who chose to have children together be able to communicate effectively and coparent. This is a good thing! You should applaud him, really. Maybe try talking again, let him know that it's a new experience for you, and you're sorry? If he hasn't given you cause to think he is cheating...
