I DONT support our Troops😕😮
How many of us have said, "I support the troops! " or "Support for the troops!"
probably a good portion of us.
but I realized something. I don't actually support the troops at all.
do you? do you support them?
sporting a "support the troops" bumper sticker on your Dodge pick up or mini van isn't supporting them.
doing nothing, day in and out, or thanking a person in uniform, isn't really supporting our troops.
-Do you help homeless vets?
-Do you buy them a meal or pass them by on the street?
-Do you Help our furry fighters? (K-9 dogs need things too! there's a great cause for this)
-Do you send care packages to the troops? with every day essentials?
-What about things that are not essentials, but "wanted?" (magazinea? candy bars? etc.
-Do you send anything to the troops, thanking them for their services?
-do you do anything MORE than "Think" about The troops and vets on veterans day?
-have you donated to causes that support and help the troops/vets?
-have you done anything for the military spouses that are doing their best while their spouse is fighting in war? for us.
-have you helped to build a home for a troop? there are organizations for this.
-have you supported the fallen heros cause?
-have you sent a Christmas card to a troop at Christmas?
-what about any other holiday?
-have you wrote a troop a letter?
-Sent a thank you card? just because? on any given day ?
-donated Food and toiletries?
-Made up a care package for the homeless vets, to assist them on cold nights and days? (outside of a holiday)
-Donated to the Fisher House?
-supported children who lost a parent at war?
-Organized any cause to raise money for the troops?
-participated in any ongoing cause? or any cause?
-Taught your kids (at a rightful age) about what the troops do?
*and if you have done any of these, (short list) or something else, when was it? last week? last month? last year? how many times did you do it?
*you see, supporting our troops, to me, means actually doing something that's supporting to them. to show them they aren't forgotten as we live our lives outside of enemy lines.
if all were doing to support them is waving a flag on veterans day, and thinking of the troops, well, that is called being grateful. not supportive. I've boasted "SUPPORT OUR TROOPS" & "BRING HOME OUR MEN AND WOMEN" bumper stickers, I've changed my fb pic to a flag or similar, on veterans day. I've went to my kids's Veterans day school concerts.
but.......
I realize that I've hardly supported the troops. except for one Christmas where my family made up care packages for homeless vets. and another time where we organized a class project to send requested items across seas. and I've dropped in change to donation jars for military causes many times.
but, do those few things... that ive done.. give me the right to say "I support our troops?" I don't think so. which is why I say, I don't support our troops. bc... well, how am I?
I want to be more involved in supporting the troops. whom are fighting to keep us and our loved ones safe, while being away from their loved ones.
my grandfather is a Vet. fought and returned from many great wars. my father is retired from the Army, now an officer. my best friend from school is in the Navy, and she has 2 kids, and a husband whose in the medical Profession within the Navy. my other friend is a military wife and mom. my ex boyfriend is a fighter pilot and has earned top ranks after graduating from the Naval academy 18 years ago.
of all ppl, *I* should be more supporting!!!
I can't wait to actually mean it, when I say, I SUPPORT OUR TROOPS!!! (and their families)
*So, if you SAY that you support our troops, how do you? what do you do for them? what is your favorite things to do for our troops? or their families? do you have a fave organization or cause you support?
*not everyone does support the troops, not verbally or otherwise. and that's them, this post wasn't director towards those ppl
