How overdue can you safely go?

Question

I'm 40+1 and my doctor wants to induce me next Monday at 41 weeks if nothing happens by then . I tried to push for a little later but he didn't want to do that. How late can I really go safely? It seems like one week isn't that late.
I'm only 1cm 50% so he couldn't strip my membranes. Anyone have experience with going past due?

I live in France and due dates here are set at 41 weeks. Unless medically necessary, they don't even think about inducing before then. I was told after 41 weeks, they'll monitor me every 2 days and then induce at 42 weeks.

My doctor does it at 42 weeks... 
I think it depends on the mom, overall health of you & baby, and what your doc may think of your placenta's status. 
That's exciting though! Hopefully baby decides to come on his/her own before next Monday 😀 I'm 40w1d too.

My hospital and doctor won't let you go over 41. Idk if that's also a state standard or not

In the U.K. It's 42 weeks

I've been told (in Australia) I can go to 42 weeks as long as all monitoring comes back saying baby is happy and healthy. From memory I would have to get an ultrasound at 41 weeks then two more in the 42nd week along with more regular appointments. I've heard of mums also pushing it to 43 weeks as long as all tests come back fine. Chances are you'll go into labour naturally, I'm the same way don't want to be medically induced unless it's 100% necessary.

I think 42 weeks is kind of the standard max. Some doctors are more comfortable at 41 weeks though. Just depends on fluid and placenta and the nst.

If I hadn't gone into labor before I hit 39 weeks my doctor said they would've scheduled an induction at that appointment for between weeks 40 & 41. They told me they don't think it's safe to go over 41 weeks, the risk for a stillborn goes up dramatically.

The main thing is watching your placenta after 41 weeks to make sure it's still functioning ok. You'll prob go into labor by then anyways! ; D

In the U.K. They don't induce until 41+5 but I've heard they will let you go to 43 weeks with increased monitoring and all being well with you and baby x
