OBGYN, family practitioner or mid wife??

A family practitioner isn't trained in Obstetrics and cannot give you correct care during a pregnancy. They also can't deliver a baby

I think it's going to depend on your preferences. I had an OB with my first and hated my experience and I never did click with her. For this pregnancy I have a Certified Nursing Midwife, she works in a practice alongside other midwives and OBs, she also has 20+ years experience as an OB nurse. I will have a hospital birth but have better support since my midwife will be present through most, if not all of active labor.

I loved my mid wife but they support more natural paths. I also loved my first OB, she was hilarious, but didn't necessarily support all my thoughts and feelings. I'm not hippy but I wanted to wait until I went into labor naturally even if it were after my due date. She wasn't really going for it.

I rather a ob/gyn i like the safety of the medical back up if anything goes wrong.  I can fully trust my ob will do anything that needs to be done to save me or the baby with the degree to prove she has practice. I plan to go all natural no meds but it's nice to have security.

I'm going with a midwife but will see both an OB and my midwife for the rest of the pregnancy. Neither are in the same offices. The answer to your question depends on you and what you want. Honestly anything can happen and change but what I want is to have my baby at the midwife center. They have trained RN nurses to assist the midwives and can do a lot of the normal things hospitals can do. They do not do epidurals and I particularly like that because then I won't be tempted to go that route. I want to have atleast one baby all natural and in my opinion it seems better to do it with the first instead of the second or so on because I'm still naive to what it's really like as all first time moms are. They also discharge us 4-12 hours after the birth of our baby and have one of the nurses do home visits along with us taking baby to the pediatrician at 3 days old. It's just more simplistic and seems a lot more tranquil at the midwife center compared to a hospital setting.

i went with an obgyn with my pregnancy and honestly i wish i went with a midwife.  i planned for a natural birth and felt very overpowered by my ob to have a medicated birth,  but if you choose to have a medicated birth that may be a good option!
