Fraternal or identical?

Anyone an ultrasound tech or just familiar with ultrasounds? Does anyone know if these are w identical or fraternal twins?

Mine have two sacs & placentas but my doctor said it's a possibility they could still be identical. It all depends on when the egg divided. Here's a 4-D picture of them at 27 weeks. They look identical to me!!

A dichorionic diamniotic (DCDA) twin pregnancy is a type of twin pregnancy where each twin has its own chorionic and amnionic sacs. This type occurs most commonly with dizygotic twins, but may also occur with monozygotic twin pregnancies. 
Basically saying identicals and fraternals can also have own placentas and own sacs. Only your dr will be able to tell you for sure. Sometimes you won't know until birth by having the placenta/s sent to pathology or getting babies DNA tested

It's either Mono-di or Di-di (but di-di aka diamniotic-dichorionic can be EITHER identical or fraternal technically said monozygotic or dizygotic). Diamniotic refers to two sacs & dichorionic refers to two placentas. The membrane on the ultrasound will lead you to believe whether it's mono-di or di-di if you googles images of both. Mono-di (which is also identical in most cases) has a very thin membrane separating them while di-di is often thicker with the lambda sign. You may need genetic test postpartum to learn whether di-di twins are identical or fraternal.

Those look like mo/di twins. I'm having di/di twins and my ultrasound clearly has them in two separate placentas.

I think this was their 8 week ultrasound and I'm 29 weeks now.

I think they are didi. The membrane in modi is usually fairly thin, especially this early on in the pregnancy. It could be modi, but my guess is didi! Here is an early pic of my modi boys who are now 18 months!! Welcome to the twin club! 😀
