winter coat suggestions?

I know it's only barely August... but who has thought about winter coats? FTM here. We live in Michigan and it gets cold- like snow can sometimes happen in October. With car seat safety in mind- what coats do you seasoned mommies recommend? I like to watch for deals if I can which is why I'm thinking about this already. Help!

i was told you're not supposed to put them in the car seats with their coats on, you have to take the coat off first

We used the north face Oso one piece last year, which both our pediatrician and hospital doc gave me the okay to use in her seat. Definitely check with yours! I'm also going to get a north face thermoball bunting because one pieces are just so much easier for me. I bought a poofy Carters jacket on clearance, but I don't necessarily trust it for the coldest days. Seems very thin still and it gets VERY cold here!
