Not 12 weeks yet...need opinions.

I'm 10 weeks and a few days and I've told all my close friends and family. I'm not a big "announcer" and I don't have a presence on much social media. I went to my first doctor appointment the other day and because I'm over 30 she gave me the blood draw that tests for Down syndrome and various other defects. As well as any gender abnormalities, which is why they can determine gender in this test. She gave me the go ahead to get it today if I wanted. Part of me still wants to wait until 12 weeks. I've had a miscarriage before and I don't really want to spend the unnecessary money for the test. After insurance I'll still be out of pocket $150-$350. Thoughts, anyone?

don't they do this testing a bit earlier so it can give you the opportunity to abort the child if the child has a deformity??? really not sure

Not sure if it's something offered earlier elsewhere but in the uk you wait till your 12 week scan to get bloods done for disability testing. Abortions can be done until 24 weeks in most cases. They can actually be done after that if there's a risk to life for mum or baby.
