Is 10DPO too early to take a pregnancy test?

So I caved in and bought a first response home pregnancy test and it's supposed to tell you 6 days before your missed period (AF due 08/14) and when I took it, it came out negative. My question is...is it too early to test yet?? 
PLEASE SOMEONE TELL ME THE ANTICIPATION IS KILLING ME

yes!!! too early. I tested 6 days before and got a negative. I took this today and I think I have a line... and period is due on the 16th

yes. sometimes you won't get a positive until after your missed period. don't give up

first response tests are meh for early testing. I use the dollar store or Wal-Mart cheapies. both of my pregnancies got a bfp at 8dpo with those and 15 dpo with first response

I am 10dpo today and caved...my dollar store test showed a faint this morning so I went and got a first response and it was bold. Everyone produces hcg differently, some women don't have enough hcg to show up on a test until a week past their missed period. Baby dust!
