Do you think parents can bring back the normal childhood most of us experienced or has technology taken over?

I'm 21 years old, first time mom to a 9 month old baby girl and I am going to avoid giving an iPad to my daughter at an early age. I know technology is a benefit for our generation but do we really need to have them glued to screens 24/7?? I feel like parents do this to keep their kids quiet, or from running all over the place, or even just so they can do whatever they gotta do without the kids being, well kids..

My memories as a kid still make me happy to think about to this day. I remember playing librarian and pretending to check out books for myself, playing store and putting prices on things I had laying around, building forts with all of my moms sheets, playing with the neighbors outside, and even dress-up! Yeah, a lot of kids still do this but isn't it rare to see it so often? Sometimes moms don't allow it because kids begin to yell and get excited that instead they tell them "get ur iPad and go to the other room I don't wanna hear you while I'm watching TV" (personal experience).

I wish we could take it back to how it was when I was younger. iPads and cellphones really take the whole experience from growing up and using our imaginations. Now kids just want to be on YouTube watching kids open their toys or playing video games.
