Sleeping problems at almost 10 months?

Hi ladies

Looking for some reassurance that I'm not the only one!

My little boy will be 10 months this week and we have been bedsharing since he was around 2 months old. My husband works nights so I don't have any help but this has never been an issue before because our son was a really good sleeper, going down at a good time, feeding regularly but always going straight back to sleep afterwards. However, the last week or two he's been having so much trouble sleeping. He goes down okay and sleeps for an hour or so soundly, but then seems to start waking up crying repeatedly for anywhere up to three hours. I breastfeed so usually feed him or rock him back to sleep as normal but then as soon as he lays down he starts crying again, or will sleep for 15 mins and wake again. It's this constant up and down for ages before he finally manages to get in to a deep sleep until morning. I feel so sorry for him because he's exhausted during the day and wants to nap much more than usual to make up for it.

According to Wonder Weeks he's just started Leap 7 which seems to be a big one, so I'm presuming this is the cause? He's also very clingy and generally emotional at the moment so that would fit with this explanation.

Has anyone else had a similar experience with their little one?

Thanks in advance xx
