Pop it or leave it?

I noticed some pain coming from under my left labia majora a couple days ago. Once I investigated, I found a bump, which I assume to be an ingrown hair or something similar. Should I take a needle to it and empty it, or wait for it to go away? It's not causing me too much pain, except when I wash or otherwise touch down there, but it is a bit annoying.
