Period or spotting??

My periods are alway pretty heavy,painful cramps last for 7 days. Well, this months period was unusual for me, I was 4 days late. So when it did start it was pinkish when I wiped. So figured it would get heavier but it never did and it only lasted for 4 days, I had no cramping but my back was killing me. Has this happened to anyone else?
