Posting in case it helps somebody. I had a freaking amazing epidural and was dead to the world from the chest down. Seriously, I took a nap. When it was time to push I was totally screwed. My doctor goes “let’s do this Africa style!” (He is from Ghana). He ran and got a towel from the bathroom and made me tug-o-war with the nurse when I was supposed to push. He said it is the perfect way to bear down but in Africa they do it standing with a rope hung from the ceiling so I was cheating 😂. Only did it twice and the baby popped out. Only a first degree tear. FTM. Magic. I will be trying it again with my next one even tho my current doctor thinks I’m nuts lol
