labor warning signs?!?!

are there any signs before hand that u will b going into labor soon? or does your water randomly break?!

At a parenting class I went to there were several warning signs, but of course every woman is different and may not experience them all or any for that matter. In no particular order:
1. Heavy discharge and/or losing mucus plug (bloody discharge)
2. Diarrhea or frequent bowel movements
3. "Nesting" burst of energy for about 24 hours followed by complete exhaustion the next following days
4. The baby drops. There may be lightening, frequent peeing, pelvic pain, and pressure 
5. Dilation and effacement 
6. Cramping, back pain, and/or more frequent contractions

Number 1 I had no signs leading up to anything- was walking across the kitchen and got hit with a "Braxton hicks" that hurt really bad- they were just real contractions. My water never broke.

This is my 4th and I had no signs with any of my previous labors. It would be nice to know when baby is coming but unless your water breaks, there's no way of telling. For me, I was 3cm dilated for weeks before the delivery with my first. My water didn't break until the doctor broke it at 10cm for all three. Everyone is different though!
