Birth Plan Decisions
My first baby is due in October and I've been doing research on the routine things that happen right after birth. I'm also planning on writing a birth plan and wanted to share my choices on the following procedures as well as see what other first time moms plan on doing for their baby. I don't want this to turn into fights, as I believe we all do what we think is best for our baby and circumstance, but I'm just generally open to hearing the thoughts of others.
Here are my birth plan decisions:
Circumcision (if you are having a boy): No
Delayed Cord Clamping: Yes
Skin to Skin: Yes
Eye Ointment For Baby: No (I've tested negative for STD's)
Hepatitis Vaccine: No
Vitamin K Shot: Yes (this one I'm still on the fence with. I don't like the preservatives and carcinogens added in the shot but I feel like even though the risk of vitamin k deficiency is low, it is very dangerous if it does happen. I know about the oral drops but they're not very easy to get a hold of from what I see as well as I've read the shot is more effective.)
Placenta Ingestion: No
Rooming-In: Yes
Am I forgetting anything else?
