To test together or to surprise him?

My husband and I are about to start ttc our first baby! I had mentioned something about wanting to tell him I'm pregnant in a fun way and he said that he has to be with me when I take a pregnancy test so we can find out together. I understand what he's saying and I think it would be special to find out together and have that awesome moment... but I always imagined surprising my husband with some cute little gift to say you're going to be a daddy! What do you think? What did you all do?

Or maybe buy a gift ahead of time that you would give him if you were to surprise him. Like a onesie or something and have it on hand.

I surprised him both times but if it's important to him to be with you when you take the test then do that. I think it's so cute that he wants to share that moment with you. You could always get him something cute anyway to open afterward. Best of both worlds.

Well I think if he wants to be there, let him be there. You've got to consider how he pictures finding out to ya know. Also hopefully you conceive quickly, but I'm almost on 7 months, so my guy has stopped hanging out with me. If we get a BFP I'll probably end up getting super excited and jump around until he comes to see what the noise is for. I wouldn't have the patience to surprise. 
Maybe find a happy medium? Like honour his wishes with the test but surprise him with gender or something else like that?
