What's the process after going to L&D ?

Like when you go to the hospital because youre having contractions oe your water broke ? do they make you change into the gown right away ? then check you ? Or whats the process? Feel free to comment your labor story below

I signed in, was brought to the delivery room, changed and was then checked every couple of hours to see if I was progressing. Started at 2 cm dilated at my morning appointment and was at 5 cm when I got to the hospital. It took 23 hours to finally get into active labor and I pretty much walked around and watched tv the whole time lol

They don't admit you until they've monitored your contractions a bit. If they feel like it's time then they'll admit you and get you in a room and hooked up to the monitors again and you'll get in a hospital gown.

When I went in I had to change into a gown and give a urine sample. After that they hooked me up to the monitor and checked my vitals and cervix and after a few mins I was admitted and brought back into a room.

I've had to goto the hospital a few times during this pregnancy because of pain/dehydration. I am always taken to labor and delivery and immediately told to change into a gown and give urine sample. When I was induced with my last pregnancy, the first thing they had me do was change into a gown as well. I was in a gown before they even looked at me.

Every hospital is a little different...I would recommend you set up a hospital tour where you plan on delivering. They will answer all your questions and its nice to know where you are going so when you're in labor your not running around trying to find the right entrance/etc
