I know a few women who loved them while they were on them, but they had a lot of problems after quitting so thay they could start trying to concieve. They said that their period didn't come back for a very long time, and that their hormones were out of whack for a while. I've also been told that doctors will tell you the positives of the injection and not the negatives. Be sure to ask your doctor about all the negative side effects as well as the positives. Ask about trying to concieve afterwards and how it will affect that. Personally, I haven't chosen that form of birth control because of health risks that are unique to me, but you should discuss it with your doctor before you decide.

Definitely be sure to do you research. I was on it for awhile and I personally didn't have any problems, but I know several girls who had a lot of trouble getting pregnant after being on the shot. Among other side effects as well. Just be sure to do your research and make sure you get ALL the facts from your Dr before you make a final decision.

loved it when I was in it but now that I'm trying to conceive I hate myself for doing it. it's been 16 months and I've finally just started ovulating again

Ive known a few people that have had it and all different reactions.
All girls didnt have a period. One got preg between her old shot and going to get a new one. Another girl blew up like a balloon and gained so much weight, also her hair was thinning drastically... The other girl was fine on it but after became pregnant and didnt know since she was waiting on a cycle to start back up once off it. Her dr couldnt even tell she was pregnant till she was about 5 or 6 months. She also developed horrible hormone issues and regrets ever getting it..

Everyone is different. Honestly ive always been told its unhealthy to not have a period so I dont understand how something to stop a period is so promoted..

I absolutely hated it. It made my periods completely stop which was cool at first but really was just not normal. I had zero sex drive and my husband and I didn't have sex for almost a year because it really disgusted me. Then when I tried to get pregnant it took almost two years and I think the shot payed a role in that issue. I would seek other methods with less hormones.

I wouldn't suggest the shot.  Physically, it causes things that most women don't like.  Things such as acne, weight gain, etc. Although those are factors of all birth controls, they are especially bad with this method! Also,  if you're hoping for a baby later on it may take a while after getting this shot.
