Arms strapped down in c section?

Question

My doctor told me that if a c section has to happen they strap your arms to the bed or else it will compromise the surgical field. This is the first I've heard of this. Is this your experience? Does that mean you cant hold your birth partners hand?

My arms were strapped down it was horrible and then once my son was born and I was in recovery and finally got to hold him I couldn't cuz my arms were numb. Hoping for a vbac this time

They did strap me, but I could hold my husband 's hand. It didn't bother me.

It would depend on the hospital and care provider. There are places that do gentle cesareans and have the birthing person help lift their baby out of the incision.

At my hospital if you get a C-section, they don't strap your arms down, but they do spread your arms and lay them on tables on either side of the operating table (like a t position) so when baby is born they can do skin to skin if able and you can hold them

they didn't strap me down but told me if I didn't leave my arms there they would have to. you can still hold partners hand. I was too scared to move anyways lol

My legs were strapped, arms were not. You're usually numb from the chest down, not arms.
