When is a good time to go to the er?

I've been reading that getting leg cramps during pregnancy can be due to blood clots and I've been getting a lot of tension and aching lately. I'm trying not to be paranoid and wait for my ob appt...anyone ever have clots and can explain what it might feel like? 
I have osteoarthritis and I'm a diabetic so joint and bone aching is my norm.

Let me preface this with the fact that I am a nurse.  Leg cramps are not a symptom of a clot.  Pain in one spot, redness, and warmth in that spot are symptoms of a clot.  Leg cramps themselves are a very common symptom of pregnancy.

Typically with a blood clot, it's only on one side. That leg will feel a lot warmer to the touch and be very sore swollen.

In my first pregnancy I had horror me leg cramps! Sometimes they would wake me up at night and I would yell. I was also constantly vomiting, getting dehydrated, and going to the ER to get IV fluids. My doctor said the cramps were from low potassium most likely. So I started eating bananas. Mangos have a lot of potassium as well. Good Luck!

My doc said low calcium or potassium was likely the cause in my previous pregnancies.  Gatorade helps, banana, potatoes, tomatoes for potassium.

thanks everyone. I didn't have these with my son so it's a weird thing. and like I said I tried not reading into it because I generally do have chronic pain but its been nearly everyday since I got my bfp and my knee did swell up a few days ago but has since went down.
