What can I take?

So I'm very early into my pregnancy and I have severe constipation. Is there anything I can take? My doctor still hasn't gotten back to me.

Hey, I went to the doc on Monday because of the same problem. I had a lot of pain and mot able to pass wind well. gavascon is fine to take while pregnant - you can also ask the chemist for a cheap alternative - just check the back but it shall say "this product is okay to take whilst pregnant and breast feeding. I also started having 5 prunes in the morning which has seemed to help. Hope this helps you

I had chronic constipation, even before getting pregnant. But with pregnancy, it was much worse. My Dr suggested a combination of stool softener, miralax, and bulk-fiber. it helped, a little. what really worked (is working) for me was/is eliminating meat and dairy. I never would have considered it before, but I was desperate. I sh*t you not, pun intended, I now go regularly. at least once a day, sometimes twice. it's such a relief. I hope you find something that works for you.  Maybe give vegan a try. (or vegan-ish.) And forget the save-the-animals PETA agenda... if being vegan means I can poop again, I'm sold. good luck, mama!

Metamucil is a fiber pill and works wonders.

Eat lots of food with fiber and also you can use fiber supplements in your drinks, the sell them OTC in Walgreens and Walmart. I used to drink them because of the same reason.

Taking probiotics helped me, that and eating Fiber One bars.
