New to contact lenses. Need as much advice as possible!
Okay so I've worn glasses since I was 12. I stopped wearing them because I ruined a few pairs from obsessively cleaning them. I started wearing them again when I was 16. Well, I also have OCD. I could spend several minutes at a time, several times a day, cleaning my glasses. No matter how many times I tell myself that they'll never really be clean, OCD rears it's ugly head and tells me to clean them anyway. If I can't, it's all I can think about and I become physically uncomfortable. So because of how often I clean them, I ruin even the highest quality glasses. What a waste.
I've been avoiding this for a long time because also having autism gives me a deep hatred/discomfort toward change, but I need to switch to contacts. I mean, several pairs of glasses a year is expensive. I purchased vision insurance because that's cheaper right now than paying for the exam plus the contacts. I have a $10 copay on exams and a $200 yearly allowance for either conventional or disposable contacts. I also found sites that offer low cost lenses. My coverage takes effect on September 1st and I will be getting together as many questions as possible for the optometrist.
If anyone has any advice or any idea of things I need to know, that would be great. I'm really new to this.
