Moving out of your parents house!! ๐Ÿ˜Š

Samantha
So, I am finally ready to move out of my mom's house, but I want to make sure I have accounted for everything I'm going to have to pay for when I move out. I know it depends where you go exactly, but I was wondering if anyone has advice on moving out for the first time. Like a check list or something similar. I really appreciate it in advance!

Okay here is how I did mine.Monthly income that you bring home. Then subtract bills that you currently have if any.Next subtract:RentElectric/gas/water billTv/Internet if you will have themGrocery (go with the highest amount bc remember your first few weeks will be stocking up)Gas money averagedWhatever you have left always take a percentage out for saving in case of any emergencies that you may need it (ex. Car repairs, oil change, medical expense, etc)

also don't forget the expenses the first month that you'll use for buying household items such as pots and pans, bathroom supplies, vacuum, mop etc

I use excel to work out all out outgoings it's so much easier. Problem is we have more going out than coming in! Don't get stuck I. A rutt! And don't be to proud to ask for help if you need it off your mum!

My best advice is to budget and stick to it. When I first moved out I knew exactly how much my monthly bills were and how much I was making every week so I just did the math and whatever was left over 50% went in to savings. And the other 50% was "fun money". It sucked some weeks when I only had like 10 bucks for fun stuff but after about 6 months I had decent savings and was pretty secure. Now that I'm older I'm making more money but I still stick to a similar budget, it works well for me.

Cash budget! Allows you to see where you spend your money. Prepare for the worse. I bought a house and within the first year my Pellet stove broke, my pool pump shit the bed, my garage door stopped working , emergency vet visit.

I bought essentials before moving (pots, pans, cleaning supplies, etc). I also bought some used furniture at yard sales or auctions (well only a fridge from an auction). We were buying so I was really trying to watch what I spent. You will have to budget for everything. Know what you can afford to spend after bills each week for food and personal items. And I'd say save the extra from that because anything can happen. You might find lists on pinterest or google.

Don't do as my son did and get all new furnishings from rent to own! As I tried to tell him, you can get nice, used things. Budget and stick to it. Clio coupons from Sunday paper, or print from coupons.com. good luck to you and best wishes!

I left to nyc with a backpack and 25$ in my pocket. About as unprepared as you can be. Haha
