Peaceful Alt-Right Protesters?

Question

Does anyone truly believe what Trump said about not all the protesters at the statue being white supremacists and neo-nazis?  
Specifically, he said, “I’ve condemned many different groups. But not all of those people were neo-Nazis, believe me. Not all of those people were white supremacists, by any stretch. Those people were also there because they wanted to protest the taking down of a statue, Robert E. Lee.”
Bonus question: Do you feel bad for those who were caught on camera, exposed publicly for being in Charlottesville?

I can see how it may have been possible that some people
Gathered would have thought it was only about the statue.  
But...... why did they not leave at the first sign of a nazi flag.
Yeah, innocent people may have shown up, but no innocent people
Stayed there.
It's ok to have an opinion on he statues, that doesn't make you a racist. But if you happen to get caught up in a group of people who are spewing hate and racism you are 100% implicated if you stayed there.
If your photo was cAptired as a result that is your fault.
Quick story- I was in South Carolina and there was a "civil war museum" that we wrnt to.  I thought it was odd considering it was in a bad part of town and just looked like a house. We went in and there were nothing but confederate flags and literature about how soavery was a myth.  In fact? This museum is all about the confederacy and I didn't stay to learn much more.  To me it didn't seem like something I wanted to be exposed to so we left promptly.

If you go to a rally called United the Right with KKK, alt right, white supremacist...you're racist. Calling for the preservation of the white race is racist. "Blood and soil" is racist. "The Jews will not replace us" is Nazi propaganda. Sooo...unless someone at this rally sincerely can't hear or see...I guess they're ok? Maybe, but probably not.

The ONLY credit I will give them is that they chose to use their hands instead of their guns.. (we know they were carrying).. now I was willing to give them credit for that up until that idiot used a car to kill and injure people.

okay, some of those people could have been there bc they TRULY believe in preserving "american history". that could have been their sole reason for showing up, no salutes, no racist remarks leaving their mouth, no disgusting signs and shirts displaying hateful slogans. I DO feel like the MAJORITY of people there were white supremacists though. I feel like EVERYONE who attended the little torch-march the night before has hateful intentions. But yeah, people need to be logical and expand their thinking when it comes to this kind of stuff. some people truly believe that their "free speech" (that doesn't include hate speech) is in danger, and they do want to preserve "american history" w/o being labeled a neo nazi.
Bonus Q: I do NOT feel bad for anyone who was caught on camera at the charolettesville protest. Not at all. If you truly believe in something, you need to stand for it. Whether that be in front of one crowd or the entire nation. Ex: If you want to be hateful and march w/ torches like back in the lynching days, don't cry when you get exposed for it. If you don't think you're wrong than you shouldn't be crying about it anyways. you chose that path.

If you watch the VICE, footage of what occurred at the college the night before you will also see that they are the same characters at the protest. It is very evident that they were there for other reasons. 
The actual guy who requested the permit was there to spout about free speech and when things got bad police removed him. Police officials told him to leave the state and not return, but he made another appearance and was punched dead in his face and then he got the message and left Virginia after that. 
Just watch the VICE video of the march the night before.
