Is it wrong to ask my boyfriend to get checked?

Question

I just want him to get checked before we have sex, that's all. And he would say how he's clean, he doesn't experience any STD symptoms  and his last partner was checked, etc but i just want reassurance 🤦🏽‍♀️ !! is there anything wrong with that?!

Definitely not wrong. I made my bf get checked and he did it like 2 days after I asked him to. He told me was positive he had nothing, have been checked 2 years before hand which was around the last time he even had sex, but he wanted to give me piece of mind and a quick test on his end wouldn't hurt. I'd never even had sex before him but still got tested myself because I've heard some weird stories, so why not be safe rather than sorry? If your bf is refusing then it might be time to ask some serious questions. If he has nothing to worry about, a test for proof wouldn't hurt either would it?

There is nothing wrong with that, it's actually a recommended thing to have both partners checked if they were having sex before with another person. Me and my husband were both checked before we had sex when we first got together even though we used condoms in our previous relationship we just wanted to be 100% sure.

I was with my ex for a year when I found out that he gave me chlamydia. There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with wanting him to get checked. Don't go through what I went through. Chlamydia can cause PID and infertility if you don't get it treated in time. Also, he may not know he has something because some people don't get symptoms from STIs for a long time. My ex claimed he got it from him ex and wasn't experiencing symptoms. Maybe he'll feel better about the idea if you offer to get checked too?

it's very smart. I asked my fiance to get checked, and he was happy to do so. I was a virgin when we got together and he'd has one previous partner (who had cheated on him during their relationship).

nope, I told my boyfriend I was getting checked (I was stupid and didn't think before I got into bed) and he was understanding, thank God i was clean but if I had something I would of been devastated

Nothing at all! That is super smart and if more people did that, there wouldn't be nearly as much of an STD problem as there is. You guys could both go get checked together. If he says he doesn't have any symptoms, etc etc, calmly explain to him that many STDs might not show symptoms for quite a while and that's how they get passed around so much - people dont even know they have them. If he loves you and is worth it, he will respect your wishes and do the mature thing and go get checked.
