Why am I bleeding?

So I have a iud in and I've had it for almost 6 months and my bf and I had unprotected sex besides my birth control yesterday and I'm bleeding today( I don't get my period for another two weeks) can anyone explain what's going on?

I have the same thing going on and ive been told that it could be the strings irritating your cervix which causes the bleeding. I got my trimmed by my midwife to see if that would help the problem. 🤞🏼

I sometimes bleed if the sex was a little too rough or wasn't wet enough. But when that happens its only a little blood - not continuous. If it happens more times I'd maybe give your doctor a call. Or if it doesn't stop bleeding.

I recently got an IUD too. I was originally planning on getting the Skyla, but the doctor told me she would be using the Mirena instead. I was curious because the Mirena is used for woman who have given birth to at least one child. The doctor mentioned that some women have spotted even after the 3-6 month adjustment period where you can spot. So I just continued on with the Mirena. The Skyla would have lasted me 3 years, but the Mirena won't have to be removed for 5 years. I hope this helps!
