Which would you choose for your L&D?

Which do you prefer for your labour and delivery? Which of these settings / healthcare provider have you chosen in the past? Share your experiences!

Definitely an OB and in a hospital setting, preferably one with a NICU. Something can happen so quickly. I want to deliver in a place that has the staff and equipment to handle whatever could happen. I've seen plenty of "routine" situations go south quickly.

100% midwife. I had a midwife and she came to my home every two weeks and was always a phone call away. She was AMAZING. However I know midwives aren't that common in the US so if you can't afford one, make sure you are very happy and comfortable with the OB you choose.

I chose midwives and I was very happy I did. They are very experienced, but also personable and almost motherly. I didn't feel like I was in a "meat factory." They listened to my requests and concerns and came to visit me even when they were off the clock. I would definitely recommend midwives and in any setting that would make you most comfortable. I wanted the birthing center, but had to be induced at the hospital due to higher risk of still birth.

Always had a midwife. My preferred choice is a maternity home. With my 3rd I had to go to the hospital though as I had cholestasis.
Baby number 5 on its way and he will also be born at the maternity home unless I'm high risk for some reason.

When all is well, one can give birth in the middle of nowhere since women have been popping out babies since the beginning of time. However, I like to be prepared for the worst, and a lot if things can happen during child birth, so I picked an OB /GYN with care and made sure she delivers at a hospital with a NICU.

very glad I did OBGYN at the hospital! If I did it any where else besides a hospital, I would have most likely bled out and died before we could get me to the hospital. Having access to immediate urgent surgical care saved me and gave me the chance to be with my baby.
