I wouldn't take them outside if they were a premie. But full term babies have antibodies from their moms for a short amount of time. (That's why you can wait for vaccines). 
If a mom has to leave the house with a baby, they can. Just be careful about temperature.

when i had my 1st son i was released from hospital in under 6 hours, we had to do the food shopping on the way home then that afternoon we were at a different hospital at my dying grandmothers bedside. until i joined this app i'd never heard of people not leaving the house with their babies but i'm in the uk and theres much more of a get on with attitude.

I had to go get medications filled after having my son Dr just said throw a light blanket over his career and don't let people too close. so that's what we did. we took him out side but with shade and appropriate clothing all the time. we just avoided crowds as much as possible for first couple weeks! 
if I would have listened to books about staying inside for first few weeks/months I would have lost my mind! I am an outdoors person. I need fresh air and I think baby's do to!

I left the hospital and went to babies r us as my son came early and I only received money at my shower. 
By 2 weeks old we had gone to the doctor, target, and church. 
Never heard of staying inside until this app and I'm from the US. 
Life doesn't stop because you have a baby

I would take my child outside on walks, etc right away. I might wait a little longer to go out in public, but that's more because I'm not ready and I'm not super into strangers taking this special time away from us. I'm not that worried about germs right away because a newborn has my antibodies still in their system for a couple months.

I have a preemie who was in the hospital for a month...I have no family where I live so I have no choice but to take her to the store and errands. I put a carseat cover over her when we go into stores, she enjoys walks in the park on over cast days, we are back and forth to the hospital for check up twice a week, and she has gone with me to a friend's house. My friend made sure to sanitize her hands and I brought a big blanket to put on my friends couch to lay her on. I say take precaution but I feel babies are ok until someone wants to touch and kiss them. I struggle with milk production but breast feeding any amount you have is good too

I got discharged from the hospital and went straight to Sam's club with baby and hubs. I had to get prescriptions and we decided to get some groceries while we were waiting for it to be filled. I just kept baby in his car seat, comfy with a blanket draped over the top so no one could get near him. It's crazy too Mee that moms won't leave the house for months because they had a baby. As long as lo is healthy and had no complications, going out without any strangers touching them should be perfectly fine.
