Membrane sweep?

When did your Dr offer to do a membrane sweep? I'm 37 weeks tomorrow and was thinking about asking for a membrane sweep. I was 1cm dialated at my 36 week appt. Since then I started taking evening primrose oil orally twice a day and vaginally at night. Hoping to be more dialted tomorrow! I'm ready to meet my little man!

Yes, let the baby stay as long as you can! 40 weeks is a healthy full term and there's a reason why everyday until then is important. I would hold off on membrane sweeping until at least 39 weeks.

Shouldn't they only be offering that if your at 40 weeks??? There is a risk of infection apparently. Not worth the chance.  I am not going to be getting that till I am overdue.

I will be 39 weeks next Thursday and the dr said he is doing a sweep then. It worked within 6 hours of my last 2 .

I thought maybe I'd be offered one today (I'm 38+3) but the on call midwife has apparently been at births every night all week so they asked me to wait til next week! Lol

My Dr did one for me yesterday at 39+6. I hit my due date today and I'm still waiting for baby girl. Right after the sweep I had a bunch of spotting so I would recommend wearing a panty liner after the appointment. I had low back pain and was achey the rest of the day but no contractions yet. I am 3cm and 90% effaced and baby is low. I don't think she would have offered if I hadn't progressed that far already. I read it can take 24-48 hours for the membrane sweep to work. It can trigger a release of hormones that can start labor. Good luck.

No doctor will touch you until your 39/40 weeks

I will have mine done next Thursday the 16th. That will put me at 38 weeks and 4 days.
