Piercing your child's ears as a baby?

Question

I had my ears done very very young and I'm thankful for it. I know I have no patience  as an adult to take care of them and wait for them to heal fully. Would you Pierce your child's ears as a baby or toddler? I see both sides of the story yes and no, I see reasons to and not to. Sorry if this is on the wrong group! Didn't know what other one to put it in!

It's not your body so it's not your right. I get really frustrated that parents do things like this like their child is merely a possession to them. "it looks cute" is not enough reason to already begin taking away rights to her own body.

I had mine done young too and I'm thankful for it, I will wait for my child to say they want them done though as I did

My daughter asked when she was 2.  She didn't cry at all so I didn't have to feel guilty and it was her choice.  I didn't have any problems with them healing.  She's 5.5 now and still loves them and to buy earrings. My youngest is 9 months and I'm going to wait until she asks too.

Had them as a child, got them pulled straight down out of my lobe at preschool. 
Got mine again at 11. Tiny pinch, no big deal. I'm going to wait until they're older. 
They have pain to compare it to when they are babies they're just going through pain for seemingly no reason.

I wish my mom got mine pierced at a young age I was really jelly at other girls for having pierced ears and I was always made fun of by my cousins for it. I got them pierced when I was 13 the sound the gun made made me jerked my head so one was crooked. I ended up throwing them away before they were fully healed a couple years later I shoved one through my ears and now there okay I just dont want my child to go through all that frustration.

I'm waiting until my daughter is old enough to care for them herself. If she really wants them and takes care of them i don't have an issue, but mine were done when i was a baby and i left them empty for 9 years and they still didn't close so i just stretched them. I don't like that i can't not have holes in my ears though, and i never had a choice.

i wanted my daughters done young but kinda glad i waited. she got hers done at 4.5 i was totally suprised when she sat there perfectly still and just had watery eyes

I had mine done at 6 months old i am thankful my mom did that my cartilage at 13 hurt a bit my nose 2x hurt like a SOB my daughter is getting her ears done for her 1st bday and xmas gift since she is an xmas baby dec 15 my son was circ at birth and has no issues i left that up to daddy to have the final say on that since he has the penis and i dont but we both agreed it was to be done and we both agree on our daughters ears
