Let's pump!
Ok ladies! I've been scrolling and seeing all of you asking questions about increasing your supply and how to go about doing it. Now I'm a first time mom but I've had to learn a lot with my son because I'm his full time caregiver. I will only give him breast milk because formula could cause some serious issues for him, he's on a continuous feed form a feeding tube so I pump non stop every 2-3 hours and sometimes I throw in a random hour between that time.
Our bodies were meant to feed our babies, they don't have a scheduled they eat because when their hungry we just feed them. But because we are pumping moms our bodies have a harder time connecting with our baby and it really doesn't know how much milk to make. I personally do small amounts of oral feeding with my son Emmett. He's not aloud to actually breastfeed for it could potentially cause him to aspirate because he can't swallow. He does not have a strong latch but he loves the boob. It's amazing for your supply to have your babies saliva on your nipple, you will start to slowly get more milk the more you do this.
Pumping boot camp!
Seriously try this if you are wanting to increase your supply, I have commented on a couple of your posts but I figured I'd just make my own. What you want to do is get relaxed in your chair or bed, you want to do skin to skin with your baby while you pump, I know it may be awkward but I swear this worked for me. Now get a timer or set it on your phone. Pump for 20mins, rest for 10mins(stop the pump), pump for 10mins, rest for 10 and pump for another 10mins. You can do this every time you go to pump or once in the morning and before bed. You want to trick your body into thinking the baby is taking their time, babies don't just sit there for 20+mins completely attached, they take breaks. And by holding your little one and doing that skin to skin your body will pick up that the baby is there and produce more milk.
Make sure you are drinking tons of water like a gallon a day. I have tried the fenugreek pills, brewers yeast, oatmeal and they all work ok but not how I had thought. Give it a try and if you are still concerned about your supply go see a lactation consultant, every hospital has one and I'm personally glad I did because my supply was almost completely dried up. I hope this helps some of you, HAPPY PUMPING!
