My husband and I have been conflicted lately on this subject. He didn't really say before we got married that he would like to move back to his hometown to settle down. I was always under the impression that we would move where it's best and there is a balance. Now that we have kids, he feels it would be best to be in the same town so we have extra help very close by and don't have to pay for daycare.. this would mean he would have a 1.5 hr commute each way from his current work. I really don't want him coming home at 9/10 pm. He says he could possibly do home office 1/2 days a week :-/

I think I would rather pay for daycare and move for work or pleasure then just for childcare and help. We also have a complicated situation because I'm from the US and we currently live in Germany where my husband is from. I think we would have more of a balance (better salaries) in the US where a chunk of my salary could go towards daycare. He always said he is up for living in the US if it's a better balance for us... now with kids he is changing his story. I have hardly a salary here in Germany, that's my biggest worry.
