Dating is hard

Hey ladies! So I've been seeing this guy for about a month now and we finally slept together the other night! Afterwards while we were post-coitus cuddling I asked him what we were and he came back with "Well we're dating." Now, can someone please tell me the difference between being bf/gf and exclusively dating? Because I really have no idea, they seem the same to me. It's been a while since I've dated (4 years) and am totally lost most of the time. Do you guys have any dating tips?
