Why are they doing my growth scan so late ?

I go in for my growth scan on 9/6 I'll be 39 weeks and 2 days ! Wtf ! 5 days before my due date ? Am I the only one that finds this odd ?

My dr doesn't do growth scans unless she feels there is a need. Either baby is going to be super big/little or any other concerns. At this time she isn't planning to do one for me. Part of me would like one but I'm thankful there are no concerns

They did a scan on me at 32 weeks 6 days bc I had pressure did some measurements. But said they won't do another one until 38 or 39 weeks

I'm having my c section on Thursday and a grow scan on Monday. I have no idea why they do that.

I'm getting a growth scan at 37 weeks because they say my bmi is high and they want to make sure the baby isn't too big for vaginal delivery. 
You should ask why you're getting one!

Your doctor probably just wants to see how big/small your baby will be once he/she is born. I had one at 34 weeks and my OB said she schedules them for ALL of her patients around 35 weeks so she can get an idea of the size of the baby that someone will deliver. I wouldn't worry :)

Not odd to me. If you and the child don't have any health issues it's not a necessary scan. So when it's done doesn't really matter.
