Religion

So this is an honest question. Why do we have to respect people's religion but they don't seem to have any respect for other people's beliefs? My mother is the type of person to push her religious belief on to othe people. Example she always asks me to pray for people even though she knows I'm not religious. She also insist on listening to Christian radio when we are in the car and tries to take my three year old to church with her. But as soon as I say something about not being religious she says I'm not respecting her belief. Literally everything's Jesus with her. She doesn't care if I'm atheist. I think it's a little hypocritical. thoughts?
