Bad credit?

How do I go about apartment hunting without telling them full disclosure that I have bad credit? I mean I've done it and it saves time for both the landlord and myself, but what if I'm just throwing myself under the bus? I know some landlords in my area don't do credit checks, so it's possible I might come across a landlord who doesn't even care---but I think that my mentioning it before I actually apply might just scare them off... and then there's the issue of not wanting to apply just to get denied because it'll affect my credit..... UGH I HATE ADULTING 😭

Cosigners or roommates are not an option.
