Son diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes

My 8 year old son has been diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes this past week. I am scared for him and confused and overwhelmed. His dad and I are divorced and share custody. He comes back to me on Monday and I am so afraid to take care of him on my own since I'm not fully educated in how to give insulin and check his blood sugar. I guess I'm just looking for reassurance and advice.
