Or did I overreact?

So I have had to rely on the help of the government here lately since I'm going through a tough time. I spend all day during the week job searching and looking for decent housing. I came home with groceries earlier, I stay with family for the time being, with a Naked protein drink. Well my uncle says "I thought you were broke. How'd you afford a $7 drink??" I thought he was joking with me because he does that sometimes. So I said the government laughing kind of. He gets this attitude and starts yelling at me because that drink was bought with his tax money. I got uber pissed! I have been working my ass off for over 7 years now as well as paying taxes myself!!

Was he right in what he said or did I overreact to it?

••wanted to add: I bought groceries for my kids and myself as well as them. I got thirsty halfway though and thought the protein drink would be a great choice over soda. I rarely buy them.
