I need advice: Strange Surrogate Situation
Ok Ladies, I've been struggling internally with this situation and need some help rationalizing
Backstory
I had a FWB a few years back (My family calls him Batman, because of his scruffy deep voice) and even when we quit having sex to be with other people we continued our friendship. He is an amazing Father figure to his nephew who has a dead beat dad, his ex aborted their baby and since he has wanted a baby soooo badly
I have been a preschool teacher for 5 years and my ex bf and I had been trying for a baby. When we split last year and I found out I have PCOS, I started researching single parent adoption and saving my money and talking to my family about helping me out as a single parent, they are behind me 100%..
The Proposal:
Well when "Batman" moved back to town and a mural friend told him my plan to adopt he asked me to lunch to talk about it.
But he wasn't talking about adoption.
He wants to have a baby together and co-parent
Sounds crazy right!? Friends with Kids situation..
We have talked extensively about this over the last few months.
He drew up a Surrogate contract with an attorney that is altered to actually give me primary custody (because he travels for work) of OUR child, he agrees to pay child support, all of the medical expenses for the pregnancy, he wants to Co-sign to get me a more reliable vehicle and pay for my housing the first year so that I can stay home with our baby until He/She is a year old
I feel like this is a Win/Win situation for me because I am getting the child I've wanted, I was already prepared to be a single parent... the only differences are that I will have financial help and my child will have a loving father.. yes I'll have to share my child with another person and his family.. but we've been through so much together and we are still extremely close friends and our families get along just fine, we already share holidays together sometimes.
Advice, comments, concerns?! Please! I welcome all of it
