No insurance?!?!

so I found out last Tuesday that I am pregnant and as of yesterday I am 6 weeks... so last Thursday I called my insurance company to make sure if I was covered for maternity, I'm not 26 yet so I'm still on my mom's till the end of the year, I found out that I'm not covered so I decided it was time to enroll in my insurance through work. I proceeded to try to enroll and come to find out I missed my enrollment by 1 day... I got ahold my HR Dept, and they couldn't do anything for me but tell me to send in some paperwork and maybe I'd still be able to get it but not likely. I applied for Medicaid and I'm still waiting to hear from them, if I don't end up qualifying for Medicaid I won't have insurance till mid November and by then I'll be about 19 weeks pregnant, I don't know what to do ugh

You can usually apply when you have a life changing event. Tell the HR team what is happening. There are clauses for this sort of thing.

Fortunately you will be able to get insurance for the most important portion of the pregnancy. You can go to your regular doctor for blood tests. Take prenatals with folic acid and DHA. You are able to pay out of pocket for an ultrasound sooner but the big one is done at about 20 weeks, the anatomy scan. Your regular physician will be able to discuss foods to avoid with you and can discuss basic questions you might have. It's all about how the appointment is scheduled. All my appointments were pretty basic in the beginning. Urine tests, asking questions, blood pressure tests (some pharmacies still have the free blood pressure tests). You can still get those DNA tests to see if there is anything wrong with your baby later on.

I'm going thru this right now at 19 wks it's SO FRUSTRATING. I ended up having to pay out of pocket for last months OB appt and my genetic screening blood tests. I'm already over $1000 in medical debt. I'm waiting on medicaid approval. till then I've had to put all my appointments on hold because I simply can't afford to pay out of pocket. I got denied the 1st time I applied because I didn't return my filled out paperwork in time. so to speed the process along, make sure you do all your paperwork correctly filled out and turned in by the date they tell you!!! I'm supposed to have my anatomy scan on Friday and worried I might have to reschedule it because of no insurance. I'm so frustrated. good luck girl!

eat very healthy
drink plenty of water
limit caffeine to 200mg daily
avoid alcohol and drugs
be careful of over the counter meds and natural remedies researching thoroughly or questioning your pharmacist first
exercise daily such as a nice long walk
you have no insurance and as such ought to qualify for Medicaid

Medicaid should pick you up since you're pregnant but of course there's always those cases where they don't. 
Try not to stress and just explain what's going on to your dr and see if they will work a payment plan out with you while youre getting the insurance figured out
