How much money do you give for a wedding?

I was curious how much people typically spend/give for a wedding gift? Not including travel and accommodation expenses. Do you give less if you know the wedding isn't costing much and is very casual?

Best advice I got was to call the venue and see how much their plates typically cost. I've always been told to at least cover your plate...

Usually $50-$100. I don't base it on how formal/casual the wedding is, I base it on how close I am with the couple.

I do $100 per person, so $200 from my husband and I. That's the standard in my area.... I didn't receive less than $100 for a single person at my own wedding

Our wedding we got $25 from some, nothing from some, $100,  etc. It didn't matter to us what we received, my favorite were the letters we received wishing us well personally and the people who helped with our big day.

$200-400 depending on how close we are. But I also live in a high cost of living area, most wedding venues are more than $100 per person. 
And if I go to the shower I'll spend about $100 on a gift.

When you have a wedding have the best man get a black velvet bag during the reception have him ask the guests for a dance to give money to the bride and groom for there wedding trip. If everyone dances any amount goes in the bag. At the end of the night the bride and groom leave first with the bag. They then count go on a trip and upon returning they sit down and write thank you letters.

Generally about $200. If it's someone we're close with but are not in the wedding party (because that's super expensive) we sometimes give more than that. As we get older and more advanced in our careers though we'll give more.
We always give cash because in my opinion registries are for the bridal shower. We did have one or two people bring us box gifts to our wedding. But they don't have much and honestly I would have been fine with a card with no money in it, so the fact that they went and got something was nice. There's a difference between being cheap and budgeting yourself.

It depends on how well I know the person my dad's a pastor so we get invited to a lot so $25 for idk you well and $50ish for others
